Cher Patrick, a freshman at Leon High School and a member of the Tallahassee First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is a rising star in swimming circles.

Patrick set the Leon High school record in the 500 freestyle three times this past swim season and is now excelling for her club team, Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club, under the direction of Coach Terry Maul.

Earlier this month, Patrick won the 500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle events in her age group at the Florida Swimming championships in Jacksonville.

With her victories, Patrick qualified to compete in the Southeast Zone Age Group championship meet in Texas in July where she will face swimmers from several states. Patrick also qualified to compete in USA Swimming’s Futures Meet.

Patrick also competes in open waters. In April, she will swim in the open ocean off the coast of Fort Myers in a 5K event.

Patrick is the fifth-ranked swimming recruit in Florida for the Class of 2025 and the 50th ranked swimmer nationally for the Class of 2025.
