Members of the Tallahassee Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined more than 2,000 other volunteers in Louisiana this past weekend (Sept. 17-19) as Hurricane Ida relief efforts continued for the third week.
At the core of beliefs held by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a willingness to serve other people. The Church’s Helping Hands program is the fulfillment of that belief. Church members from Tallahassee area join Helping Hands effort DAPHNE, AL -- James Johnston, a police officer in Gulf Shores, Alabama, is usually on the giving end of assistance to the public. Saturday and Sunday, relief workers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Helping Hands program were at his home, clearing trees and doing general cleanup – and he found himself on the receiving end of community service.
