Church applauds city’s proclamation

Tallahassee Mayor John E. Dailey this week proclaimed Sunday, Dec. 5 as a Day of Giving, urging all citizens to “give food and monetary resources to the local food kitchens, food banks, and churches who are engaged in meeting the needs of the city’s homeless and hungry. We also encourage the gift of time and prayer on behalf of those who suffer and for those who meet their needs.”

Stake members respond to call for volunteers in Louisiana

Members of the Tallahassee Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined more than 2,000 other volunteers in Louisiana this past weekend (Sept. 17-19) as Hurricane Ida relief efforts continued for the third week.

“Light the World” annual initiative

Voting in the U.S. encouraged by church leadership

The leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encouraged all members of the Church to vote in the upcoming Nov. 3 election in a letter sent to Church members. “Citizens of the United States have the privilege and duty of electing office holders and influencing public policy. Participation in the political process affects their communities and nation today and in the future. Alabama first responder finds himself on the receiving end of assistance

Church members from Tallahassee area join Helping Hands effort DAPHNE, AL -- James Johnston, a police officer in Gulf Shores, Alabama, is usually on the giving end of assistance to the public. Saturday and Sunday, relief workers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Helping Hands program were at his home, clearing trees and doing general cleanup – and he found himself on the receiving end of community service.
